He's married to Valli; daughters Devaki and Alagu study in Singapore.

Ashwin Muthiah’s community interests include directorships of trusts and foundations in India that promote primary healthcare, education, music, literature, and sports. He is Consul General Ad Honorum of The Republic of Philippines in Chennai, India.
